Bledsoe Creek | Tennessee State Parks

I’ve finally started working towards my goal of visiting all 55 Tennessee State Parks by the end of the year.  I found myself near Gallatin this week so I decided to hop over to Bledsoe Creek State Park to visit my first of 55.  Today was the first day that truly felt like the cold, yucky weather may be finally gone.  I hope today was an indication of the weather to come because it was gorgeous and felt amazing!

Gallatin is roughly 45 minutes north of Nashville so if you find yourself visiting Nashville, this state park would be an easy day or half-day trip if you have transportation.

Bledsoe Creek State Park has a very rich Native American history – once being hunting grounds for Cherokee, Creek, Shawnee and Chickamauga tribes.  The Bledsoe Creek territory became a national park in 1973.

If you’re in the mood to do some day hiking, Bledsoe Creek is perfect with six miles of trails that run through the forest and along the shoreline.  All of the trails actually connect together at different points.

I was also very pleased to see so many families with their kids fishing – it’s nice to know that families still get outdoors and do things like this together as I sometimes feel it has become a lost tradition.
