Vegan Food Guide to Doolin, Ireland

Doolin isn’t a particularly large town – in fact, it’s a village. I wasn’t expecting to find any vegan options at the Doolin restaurants so imagine my surprise when I found two fantastic options. Doolin is the perfect spot to stay for a few days since it’s the gateway to the Cliffs of Moher, the Aran Islands, the Burren and Doolin Cave. While I would always recommend keeping some vegan snacks in your rental car for emergencies, you’ll be happy to know you can still have a few nice meals out.

Doolin Restaurants with Vegan Options

Doolin Cafe

Doolin Cafe is an adorable, quaint little spot with fresh seasonal food. They have everything from soups, salads, savory meals to sweet treats. They also have a wide range of gluten-free, vegan and vegetarian options. Depending on the weather, you can sit inside or one of the many benches out front. The cafe is right in the village making it easy to walk to from most lodging. We actually woke up, checked out of our Doolin accommodation, went to the Cliffs of Moher and then backtracked to eat here before heading on to Cork.

Fitzpatrick’s Bar in Hotel Doolin

After our day trip to the Aran Islands, we were seriously so hungry. There was absolutely nothing for us to eat on Inishmore and so I can’t even begin to describe how happy we were to see this plate of food. Despite being a bar restaurant attached to a hotel, this curry was actually exceptional.

Even though the meal is marked as vegan on the menu, I double-checked if the naan bread was vegan and they said no so I would definitely check if you eat here.

What to Pack for Doolin

Raincoat (yep, it’s not just something people say – it can rain at any moment!)
Travel Umbrella (while I didn’t bring an umbrella and was too stubborn to buy one, I’d recommend it)
Pacsafe Cross Body Purse (I love my Pacsafe products and would highly recommend using them when traveling)
Comfortable Shoes (my feet tend to hurt pretty easily and these are the best shoes I’ve had in a while for walking a lot)

I was having a hard time placing Doolin in my travels, but now that I know it’s by the Cliffs of Moher I want to go. The vegan options look good but the quiche looks fantastic. British pies are always top notch.

I love the decoration at the Doolin Cafe, and the idea of a chickpea burger! I imagine sweets are the most common items to find meeting dietary restrictions. That brownie looks amazing! Sorry about the naan bread 🙁
