Derry Accommodation // Bridge Bed & {Vegan} Breakfast

Looking for Derry accommodation? I’ve found the best place to stay in Derry, Northern Ireland. It hits all the best things that I look for in accommodation and I’m excited to share Bridge B&B with you.

Bridge B&B was actually built in 1820 and is privately owned and run by a local family who was absolutely some of the nicest people I met in Ireland/Northern Ireland.

Location

Bridge B&B in Derry has the perfect location to explore all that Derry has to offer. It is located right in the roundabout (of course, it is!) on the west side of Bridge Street – hence where the name comes from. The view from our room was lovely overlooking the bridge and River Foyle.

From the B&B, we were able to walk everywhere we wanted to go – dinner at Browns Bonds Hill was a quick walk across the bridge and the Derry Walls, the murals, and the peace bridge were all very close.

Room

I’ve never stayed in a more spacious room before. When I walked in, I immediately noticed the view which was lovely but then as I turned my head, I noticed not one bed, not two beds but…three beds. My stuff could have its own bed. That’s called luxury, guys.

The beds were extremely comfortable with plenty of warm blankets, the room had plenty of natural light, a coffee maker (always important), plenty of electrical outlets and an ensuite bathroom.

Amazing Staff

Bridge B&B is owned and operated by Liam and Ursula alongside their daughter, Lena and the general manager, Keith. They went above and beyond to make sure our short stay in Derry was as wonderful as possible and I left Derry with such a great impression of the city. When we first arrived, they showed us to our room and let us get situated. Keith then offered to take us on a quick guided walk of the Derry Walls which was wonderful to have a local’s perspective!

They even gave us a hug when we left. I love finding places like that where they treat you like family.  Growing up where ‘southern hospitality’ is a real thing, I really appreciate that kind of culture. Everyone here made us feel right at home.

Breakfast

Bridge B&B was one of the few places we actually stuck around for breakfast. Most hotels and other accommodation don’t have much in the way of vegan options so we usually just got an early start to the day and skipped it. However, Bridge B&B made us a special vegan Irish breakfast. Ursula really went out of her way to find vegan bacon, tofu and other things to make sure we had a traditional Irish breakfast before starting our day.

Derry Accommodation Overview

I would, without a doubt, stay at Bridge B&B and recommend anyone to stay there. It’s fantastic for solo travelers, a romantic getaway, family travel (the size of those rooms, y’all!) or like us, friends traveling together. The friendliness, views, location and breakfast can’t be beat in all of Derry – of that, I’m sure!

Also, Bridge B&B just got awarded the ‘Best Hidden Gem’ in Northern Ireland in the Eviivo Awards.

What to Pack for Derry

Raincoat (yep, it’s not just something people say – it can rain at any moment!)
Travel Umbrella (while I didn’t bring an umbrella and was too stubborn to buy one, I’d recommend it)
Pacsafe Cross Body Purse (I love my Pacsafe products and would highly recommend using them when traveling)
Comfortable Shoes (my feet tend to hurt pretty easily and these are the best shoes I’ve had in a while for walking a lot)
