Louisville is known for a lot of things – fried chicken, for one. But much like other unexpected Southern cities like Nashville and Huntsville, there are plenty of vegan restaurants in Louisville KY, too!

1. V-Grits

Once upon a time, Morels Cafe was our go-to vegan restaurant in Louisville. And while we miss it, V-Grits is just as good!

You’ll find southern comfort food, classic American dishes, and vegan brunch. Wash it all down with a vegan beer from their sister brewery, Chimera Brewing.

2. Half-Peach Bakery

Half-Peach Bakery offers a bunch of ready-made items like mac ‘n cheese and spring rolls and food made-to-order items like soy-based drumsticks and shrimp po-boys.

They also have delicious baked goods as well!

3. Flora Kitchenette

Flora Kitchenette is a Black-owned breakfast, brunch, and lunch cafe. They offer dishes like vegan omelets, biscuits and gravy, and avocado toast.

Don’t forget to grab some of their vegan donuts, too!

4. Roots/Heart & Soy

Roots and Heart & Soy are two different but connected Vietnamese restaurants sharing the same motto: “Mindful, compassionate cooking.”

Roots is an upscale dining restaurant, while Heart & Soy is more laid-back and primarily carry-out. Both spots have entirely vegetarian (mostly vegan) menus.

5. Shahar Café

Shahar Café is a super cool retro cafe offering vegan versions of our favorite junk foods. You can find everything from Nashville hot chik’n to popcorn shrimp to huge cheeseburgers.

6. Annie May’s Sweet Cafe

Annie May’s is a vegan, gluten-free, and top 9-free bakery. They have delicious options, including cinnamon rolls, oatmeal creme pies, and soft serve.

7. Ramsi’s Cafe on the World

Ramsi’s was doing vegan food before it was mainstream. The menu isn’t entirely vegan, but it is huge and has plenty of options!

8. Cosmic Bird

It would be crazy if someone hadn’t capitalized on vegan fried chicken in Louisville. Cosmic Bird is a 100% vegan fried chicken spot.

They currently operate as a pop-up, so keep an eye out for their location!

9. Shreeji Indian Vegetarian Street Food

Shreeji Indian Vegetarian Street Food serves up authentic Indian street food and Indo-Chinese dishes, including items like dosas, masala potatoes, and more.
