What do you do when you got nothing planned and have airline miles about to expire?? Fly to Ohio to ride some of the best roller coasters in the world, of course.

I’m an adrenaline junkie – skydiving was exhilarating, scuba diving was terrifying but amazing, and I try to visit as many amusement parks as possible. I’d been wanting to go to Cedar Point for quite some time.  So, when I had airline miles that were about to expire but knew I had to go somewhere close since I only had the weekend to play with…well, hello Sandusky, Ohio!

Some of the best rides at Cedar Point, and in the world according to many lists:

Top Thrill Dragster

This ride only lasts 17 seconds, but it’s the only thrill that lasts 17 seconds that won’t leave you disappointed afterward.  In 4 seconds, you go from 0 to 120mph, then straight up 420 feet and straight back down.

Millennium Force

With an 80 degree 310 foot drop to start and 93mph, this is by far one of the best roller coasters I’ve ever been on.

Breaking seven world records, Gatekeeper is the newest ride at Cedar Point–opening just this summer.  It is the tallest, fastest and longest wing coaster in the world.

There are several others that were amazing as well including the Raptor and Magnum XL-200.  Several were not open though due to off and on rain showers.  I can’t wait to go back one day to ride all the ones I missed and re-ride my favorites.

It’s both hectic and liberating to wake up one morning, catch an early flight, ride some of the most thrilling rides in the world and then catch a flight back the next day.

I highly suggest getting a Fast Lane Pass.  They are almost as much as the admission ticket itself, but if you don’t get one, I promise you will regret it.  You’ll spend hours in line for one ride.  Not fun at all.  Anytime I go to an amusement park, I buy these ahead of time without hesitation.  The extra money sucks, but so does spending the money and time to go and not getting to ride everything.

I have never been to Ceders Point, but I have been to Orlando and some of the Roller Coasters there are pretty incredible.

There are some great theme parks here in the UK as well, such as Thorpe Park, that have some scary coasters as well.

This was my first time at Cedar Point and those rides are incredible. They are some of the best in the world for a reason and I highly suggest it if you love roller coasters. Orlando is also awesome and definitely has more choices. I’m actually planning my first solo trip to Disney in January. Theme parks are something I want to incorporate into all of my travel plans…I’ll have to check out the ones in the UK 🙂
